Ready for some Ice Cream Sandwich lovin’ on your Le Pan II? that won’t be happening until at least Quarter 2 of this year. The reason however, will make you roll laughing at their lies:

“Google has not officially release the 4.0 to public, except couple of major manufacturers. Until then, we are not be able to working on the update software. We expect in 2nd quarter to roll out 4.0 update.”

As I’m sure most of you know, Google has indeed released the source code for Ice Cream Sandwich. In fact, it’s been out since November of 2011. November 14th, 2011 to be specific [ & ]. Actually Google has released three versions of Ice Cream Sandwich’s source code, versions 4.0.1, 4.0.2 & 4.0.3.

So for Le Pan to yet again blame Google for their issues is quite sickening. As TC970 owners will recall, they told customers their original tab would get Ice Cream Sandwich and then stated that Google made it impossible to upgrade from Froyo to ICS. While this is a bold faced lie, it would have been rather difficult for them to make a jump that far, but it could have at least seen Gingerbread or Honeycomb and then ICS down the line, had they not dropped it for the Le Pan II so quickly. All we can hope is that they do not come out in Quarter 2 slinging more mud at Google and claiming that the Le Pan II can’t be updated from Honeycomb to ICS because “Google made it impossible” and recommend we purchase the Le Pan III instead.

Looks like it may be up to the developers once again to get the latest Android lovin’ on our favorite tablets.

Le Pan is full of it, but they did make an excellent tablet for a good price.

Personally I do not think the TC 979 will see ICS until Le Pan III rolls out because I think they are focusing on the Le Pan III and getting that out the door and making very minimal effort in supporting the other products. Le Pan III is their flagship…they have even said that themselves. I can live with Honeycomb for a bit and if they don’t release ICS for the TC 979 we’ll root the sucker and build our own like the Gingerbread Rom for the TC970!

I think ICS coming out for the Le Pan II (TC979) about the time the Le Pan III comes out is a good guess. But I do think (maybe just hope) that the fledgling the fledgling tablet-makers have learned their lesson about being a ‘player’ in the tablet market. Brand loyalty, and all that; important, especailly for them at the moment.

They do put some pretty impresive numbers at Amazon! And I do like their ‘Green’ angle. I’m rooting for them (figuratively, I mean).
